Crowder College announced to Branco Enterprises, Inc. on Aug. 17 that Branco had been selected for nomination from a statewide pool for the Distinguished Business/Industry Award through Missouri Community College Association (MCCA). Crowder College President, Jennifer Methvin suprised the CEO of Branco Enterprises, Inc., John Branham, with the news in an advisory board meeting.
Crowder nominated Branco for the partnership they formed in spring of 2015, when Branco approached Crowder to develop and implement an apprenticeship program. The first class began with thirteen full-time employees of Branco. The employees are on the clock while they attend class, Branco also pays for the students’ tuition, supplies and a portion of the professor’s salary.
Crowder officials said that the nomination shows how college and industry can combine to create a steady ground for similar programs in the future.
An official presentation will be made at the 52nd annual MCCA Convention on Thursday, Nov. 3 in Branson, MO.
